Werribee Open Range Zoo Safari Fleet Refurbishment Stage 1

Zoos Victoria is a not for profit zoo based conservation organisation.

Zoos Victoria operates world-class zoos on three sites; the Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary and Werribee Open Range Zoo. Our mission is to galvanise communities to commit to the conservation of wildlife and wild places by connecting people and wildlife.

ZV is led by the Chief Executive Officer (Chief Executive Officer) and the Senior Executive Team (SET), whose mission is to be ever responsive to meeting changing market and community needs, to develop and implement strategies that create world-leading zoos and to manage a successful and financially sustainable business.

Our vision to achieve this is by transforming into the world's leading zoo-based conservation organisation (ZBCO) and focusing on the following key action areas:
Conservation: We will focus and strengthen the conservation efforts of Zoos Victoria to ensure the delivery of tangible conservation outcomes.
Animals: We will establish Zoos Victoria as one of the leading organisations for creating net gains in conservation, by ensuring that every species in our collection has conservation relevance, by striving to be a world leader in animal care and wellbeing, and by actively advocating conservation of wildlife.

Visitors We will provide innovative wildlife-based recreation and learning experiences that inspire and facilitate visitors to take conservation actions that make a measurable and positive difference.

People We will support our staff's development to ensure they, and the organisation as a whole, can transform Zoos Victoria into a zoo-based conservation organisation.

Financial Sustainability We will ensure the long-term financial sustainability of all our operations to be able to maintain and improve the value of assets and make meaningful and measurable investment in conservation.

Werribee Open Range Zoo (WORZ) recently developed and has commenced implementation of a five-year operational master plan that aims to deliver the objectives of the Zoos Victoria corporate plan.

A key objective within the master plan is to continue to invest in the refurbishment of the Safari People Mover fleet to prolong its useful life cycle at WORZ.

WORZ recently purchased two (2) additional Safari People Mover Units (PMU's), PM5 and PM6, adding to the existing fleet of 4 no. PMU's. Each PMU consists of a Prime Mover and three (3) trailers, allowing WORZ to take up to 132 visitors on Safari at one time. These Safari People Movers are an integral part of the Werribee Open Range Zoo experience and the additional two (2) x PMU's help WORZ meet public demand for WORZ peak periods of operation.

The two (2) new Safari People Movers, PMU5 & 6, have design enhancements that WORZ would like to replicate across PMU 1, 2, 3 & 4. In addition, PMU5 requires one further design enhancement, which is to replace the A/C unit to under the dash.

WORZ is now seeking tenders to complete Stage 1 of the refurbishment as set out in the specifications and scope of works.
