Talbot Reservoir Dam Safety Upgrade

⁠⁠⁠Talbot Reservoir is located on rural farmland at Clunes-Evansford Road, Evansford, Victoria 3371. The reservoir forms part of the Maryborough Water Supply System and services the town of Maryborough and its surrounding communities. Constructed in 1868, the reservoir has a storage capacity of 846Ml behind two embankments.

The main embankment, located to the south of the site, is approximately 11m in height and 180m in length. A secondary embankment to the north of the site is approximately 6m high and 240m long. The dam is considered a Low Consequence Category dam.

In 2016, a dam safety inspection found that the spillway channel had failed in places and required repair. In 2017, an options assessment concluded that the required works involved in this contract will include:
* Re-grading the spillway channel invert to an average gradient of 1 in 150 starting at chainage 50m (the downstream extent of existing block stone) to increase flow capacity.
* Raising the dam crest to a minimum of 338.55mAHD to accommodate the 1 in 1000 AEP plus nominal freeboard.
* Develop a reinforced concrete wall for the spillway channel left bank and right bank to contain the 1 in 1000 AEP plus nominal freeboard.
