Westernport Water is seeking assistance from an appropriately qualified and experienced party to review a recent stormwater management incident at Westernport Water’s Cowes Wastewater Treatment Plant(CWWTP). The CWWTP services over 11,000 customers from townships on Phillip Island and San Remo.
During September and October 2017 an issue with operational performance and management of stormwater at the Cowes WWTP was raised and an internal investigation undertaken.
As a result of the internal investigation, a notification of a potential breach of licence condition LI_DW1 (stormwater discharged from the premises must not be contaminated with waste) was made to EPA on the 1 November 2017.
