Kendall Bay is a bay off the southern side of the Parramatta River, approximately 9 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD, and is situated between the Breakfast Point development (on the site of the former Mortlake gasworks) and Cabarita Park.
The Mortlake gasworks operated between 1886 and the 1980s, supplying gas for lighting Sydney streets and other residential and commercial uses. The process of gas production left the site of the former gasworks and the nearby Kendall Bay with a legacy of contamination.
The contamination on the gasworks site itself was remediated from 1999 to 2002.
Jemena has appointed a Remediation Contractor to perform the remediation as stipulated by the document titled Kendall Bay Remediation Action Plan dated January 2017 (RAP) and the Kendall Bay Remediation Project Requirements (Remediation Works).
This RFT seeks tenders for the Environmental Validation of the Remediation Works (Works) under the Kendall Bay remediation contract (reference 2017-0033) which is defined under the RAP and the Project Requirements.
The Works will require the successful tenderers to validate the remediation works and produce all the supporting documentation and reports to allow the appointed Site Auditor to issue a Site Audit Statement Part I A2 to the NSW Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) under the Contaminated Land Management Act 1997.

The validation contract terms will be issued by 4 December 2017 for tenderers to review. It is anticipated the terms will be bespoke.
