Hume City’s vision to expand and build upon the existing community centre network in Craigieburn is through the delivery of the Greenvale West Community Centre.
The scale, scope and function of the Greenvale West Community Centre is informed by the Greenvale West R3 Precinct Structure Plan and Greenvale Central Precinct Structure Plan. In combination, the Precinct Structure Plans make provision for a two stage community centre development that when completed will have an internal building footprint of approximately 1,500m2.
At the time of writing the final scale and scope of the project is yet to be confirmed although the internal building footprint is expected to range from 840m2 to 1,100m2.
The community hub’s 0.7 hectare development site will provide co-location opportunities for an adjoining state government primary school and adjacent open space and community sport.
To meet the current and future needs of the local community the following elements are being considered for inclusion in the Greenvale West Community Centre:
* Main entry and social space/accessways
* Preschool rooms
* Consulting rooms – visiting and specialist services, and maternal and child health care
* Flexible multipurpose community and activity meeting spaces
* Lifelong learning space
* Customer service and reception spaces
* Staff offices
* Storage
