The Australian red meat industry’s ability to reliably segregate and supply non-HGP treated beef is integral to ensuring unfettered market access into existing and future HGP free markets. To maintain access to HGP free markets, industry must operate a robust system that reliably distinguishes between HGP-treated and HGP-untreated cattle. A consistent HGP management system will allow for an increased pool of eligible cattle for a range of existing HGP free markets and growing market opportunities.

Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) is seeking expressions of interest from individuals, organisations or project teams with the capability to incorporate previous recommendations and research (Appendix A), to develop a single nationwide HGP management system in consultation with industry and the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources.
