Tender Description

Hydraulic wasting of activated sludge has been chosen to control sludge inventory in the activated sludge process. In conjunction with the increased hydraulic loading of the DAF facility, the performance of the existing Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system at Ballarat South Wastewater Treatment Plant (BSWWTP) needs to be optimised to achieve optimal anaerobic digester feed conditions.

In order to improve the effectiveness of the system, several upgrades have been identified for implementation under these works. These works include:
* Installation of two (2) new Waste Activated Sludge (WAS) pumps, which will discharge mixed liquor from the discharge end of the aeration basins on site. This is to remove the dependency on the existing wasting pumps which currently operate from Clarifier No 1 and No 2 respectively.
* Upgrading of controls of two (2) DAF re-circulation pumps to operate in a Duty/Assist mode rather than Duty/ Standby to increase thickening capacity within the DAF unit.
* Replacing portions of the saturated air manifold and nozzles feeding the air to the DAF structure.
* Upgrading controls of the polymer dosing pump to achieve polymer flow paced dosing.
