Tender Description
The Institute maintains specialised, world class marine research facilities in support of its objectives. Among these are its two major vessels, the RV Cape Ferguson and the RV Solander (hereinafter referred to as “AIMS’ Managed Vessels”), which support access to ecosystems across the continental shelf and a fleet of smaller vessels that supports fieldwork near-shore.
These vessels are utilised as a working platform for scientific research, including but not limited to diving support, oceanographic equipment deployment and recovery, trawling and laboratory based activities.
Research trips are currently undertaken in the Great Barrier Reef region (including the Coral Sea and Torres Strait) and North Western Australia. Research trips to overseas locations may also be conducted during the Term.
On average, each Managed Vessel undertakes approximately 26 trips per year. The duration of each trip varies from 5 to 28 days.
