Victorian Forest Monitoring Program ground plot measurements for 2017/18

The department is seeking the services of suitably qualified contractors with the ability to re-measure, and in some instances, install and measure, seven packages of ground plots within the 2017/18 measurement season, in accordance with the Victorian Forest Monitoring Program Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Tenders are sought for each package individually. Contractors may tender for one, some or all of the seven packages.

The re-measurement, and in some instances the installation and measurement, of ground plots across Victoria’s public land forest estate is part of the Victorian Forest Monitoring Program (VFMP). The VFMP is designed to assess and monitor the extent, state and sustainable development of Victoria’s forests and parks. 662 plots have been installed, and the aim is to measure approximately 1/5 of these each financial year. Details on the background and specific objectives of the VFMP are available in the tender documentation.

The department is encouraging contractors with an appropriate monitoring background to respond. It is likely that two or more contractors will be appointed to complete the work, due to the time constraints of measurements and in the interest of developing forest monitoring capacity.
