The VicRoads Towards Zero 2016-2020 program recognises that a disproportionate number of country people lose their lives each year on Victorian roads and that fundamental improvements to road safety are needed.
Project Zero focuses on preventing run-off-road and head-on collisions along 20 high-risk roads throughout rural Victoria. 11 of these 20 roads have been targeted for completion by November 2018.
$150m of works across these 11 roads will include:
* Nearly 1000km of safety barrier installation,
* Road widening,
* overtaking lanes; and
* Intersection improvements.
These works will be divided into approximately 20-25 packages ranging from $1m $5m in value.
