Tender Description

The feasibility study involves the assessment and analysis of the potential for a manufacturing connectivity centre (MCC) based in Melbourne’s south east.  For the purpose of this feasibility, the south east is geographically defined as the south east manufacturing zone of Greater Dandenong, Kingston, Monash, Knox, Casey, Cardinia and Frankston (and any other south east LGAs as identified by the feasibility).

The feasibility will provide the following deliverables:

* consultation across government and industry
* revisioning of the original concept to bring it up-to-date
* exploration of similar initiatives internationally and benchmarking their success
* assessment and analysis of the need and benefits of a MCC in the region
* dentification of the most appropriate operating model for the MCC
* identification of the most appropriate location for the MCC within Dandenong South
* a business case which presents the rationale and evidence base for the MCC
* a funding plan.

It will also consolidate collaboration from the industry, education and government sectors.

The Project Partners have agreed to undertake a feasibility, as it has been some years since the original concept was proposed in 2013.  Furthermore, the original concept requires revisioning and updating to reflect the massive impact that technology and globalisation are having on manufacturing processes, connectivity, business practices and business models. The objectives of the feasibility are to investigate the need, examine potential models and test the business case to develop a MCC.
