Burke Shire Council are seeking tenders from suitably qualified contractors for the construction of a three-lane boat ramp and concrete hardstand to replace the existing single lane ramp at the end of Truganini Road in Burketown.
The construction works are located approximately 5km east of Burketown and provide access to the Albert River. The boat ramp will be upgraded from a single lane to a three-lane ramp and has been designed to a higher standard to accommodate barge landing and unloading movements.
The works include the installation of a modified version of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) standard pre-cast toe planks. The modified design provides additional concrete thickness and steel reinforcement to accommodate a heavier loading capacity.
The works require the ability to supply all plant, equipment, labour and material necessary for the construction of the whole of the works. The pre-cast toe planks will be supplied by the Principal and stockpiled on-site prior to the commencement of construction.
The boat ramp will be closed to the public during the construction program, however the adjacent car park, floating pontoon and wharf will remain open to the public. This will need to be considered and managed in the project plans.
