Maranoa Regional Council invites suitably skilled, qualified, and experienced businesses (or individuals) to submit supporting documentation and propose an annual management fee for the provision of services under the Mitchell Great Artesian Spa Management Agreement.
Since opening in 1998, the Great Artesian Spa Complex has become one of the principal visitor attractions for Mitchell and the surrounding areas, having developed a loyal clientele from both visitors to the Maranoa region and local residents. The Great Artesian Spa Complex is housed in the buildings and grounds of the Mitchell Memorial Hall, which is the social hub for the local community.
The Great Artesian Spa Complex includes:
* Great Artesian Spa pools and amenities;
* Mitchell Visitor Information Centre;
* Merchandise and souvenir outlet;
* Coffee shop / internet Café;
* Booringa Fun and Fitness community gymnasium;
* Therapy treatment room; and
* Mitchell Memorial Hall and Kitchen.
Situated in Mitchell’s aquatic precinct, the Great Artesian Spa is comprised of two pools of artesian water. The spa has been designed for easy access which includes a hydro chair for those guests who have restricted mobility. One of the pools is a thermal pool that is maintained at a comfortable temperature of approximately 38º, designed to relax tired muscles, ease tension, and revitalise both body and mind. The remaining pool is designed for those who prefer a cooler experience. Conveniently adjoining the Complex is the Mitchell Memorial Swimming Pool which is operated under a separate Management Agreement.
