Tender Description
Sydney Metro has two core components:
Sydney Metro Northwest - formerly the 36km North West Rail Link. This project is now under construction and will open in the first half of 2019 with a metro train every four minutes in the peak
Sydney Metro City & Southwest - a new 30km metro line linking with Metro Northwest at Chatswood, and then under Sydney Harbour, through the CBD and south west to Bankstown. It is due to open in 2024 with the capacity to run a metro train every two minutes each way under the centre of Sydney.
Sydney Metro City & Southwest has three proposed core components:
Northern Corridor Works: 3 km section of new metro railway between Chatswood Station and St Leonards, mostly contained within the existing rail corridor.
Sydney Harbour Metro Crossing: Twin tunnels from the St Leonards/Crows Nest area to Victoria Cross, beneath Sydney Harbour, on to new stations in Sydneys CBD, and then Sydenham.
South west extension to Bankstown: Proposed upgrade and conversion of the existing 13.5 km railway from Sydenham Station to Bankstown Station to metro.
