The University of Queensland invites Expressions of Interest from architectural firms with the necessary expertise and resources to provide design consultancy services for a proposed re-development of the Student Union complex and a new Fitness Centre at the University’s St Lucia Campus in Brisbane.

This project will involve a complete revitalization of the Student Union Precinct the UQ St Lucia Campus and will include new teaching spaces, student services function, accommodation for the Student Union and a renewed retail offering. In parallel, this project includes a new fitness and gymnasium facility to be located adjacent to the tennis center. The precinct will be a vibrant hub for retail and student collaboration that integrates teaching and learning spaces with student informal spaces. It will stimulate students and staff alike while providing a greatly improved amenity at these parts of the campus. Subject to approval, the construction budget is expected to be in the order of $150 million that includes the redevelopment of the Student Union and the fitness centre.

The University intends to select up to six (6) architectural firms to participate in a consultant selection and design competition. The successful architectural firm will be engaged to commence design work and this engagement will roll over for the duration approvals.

This project is intended to be carried out in accordance with the Queensland Charter for Local Content and the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry.

Expressions of Interest are to be submitted in writing to the Director, Property and Facilities Division, c/o Mr Terence Fredman, Level 5, Prentice Building, The University of Queensland, St Lucia, Qld, 4072 by no later than Friday 7 April 2017.
