Murrumbidgee Suicide Prevention Program
Tender ID: 304149
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Way Back Support Service (The Way Back) is being trialled by beyondblue in several sites across Australia, to fill a current gap in reducing suicide and suicidal behaviour. It is a new suicide prevention model developed to save the lives of one of the population groups most at risk of suicide: people who have attempted suicide or those at risk of suicide without support. The highest risk period to die by suicide is in the first three months after an attempt, and in particular, the first day, week, and month after discharge from hospital.
Dedicated workers (Support Coordinators) help a person to stay safe and connect with existing health and community services during a period of high risk and vulnerability. People are motivated to stay safe, to access treatment, and to learn skills to avoid another suicide attempt.
Murrumbidgee PHN is seeking to identify up to four host agencies to host The Way Back Support Coordinators. At least one Support Coordinator will be based in each of the four MPHN sectors.
