Replacement of Chiller & Boiler Units, Eastern Hill Fire Station

⁠⁠⁠The opportunity
MFB’s 2,194 employees provide services to almost three million Melbourne residents, workers and visitors and safeguard assets and infrastructure woth billions of dollars. Our services cover the metropolitan district, an area of over 1,000 aquare kilometres.

The MFB:
* Delivers fire and emergency management services;
* Drives systemic change to the built environemtn through reforms to building design, regulations and legislation;
* Invests in research; and
* Develops prevention programs that improve community safety and build resilience.

MFB also provides specialist operational support across Australia and the Asia Pacific region as required.

The majority of MFB services occur in the metropolitan district which reached across 26 Local Government Areas (LGA’s). There are 47 fire stations spread through five districts which are split into two man regions.

The MFB’s structural arrangements are aligned to the Victorian State Government regional boundaries. This enables the MFB to work cohesively under the State Emergency Management arrangements. It is also the platform for integrated emergency managemet planning at the local, municipal, regional and state level.

The MFB’s reginal model supports the role in the State Control Centre, with regional controllers from all Agencies working together on emergencies in their area of responsibility.

The opportunity for this Request for Tender is to replace an existing Chiller Unit and two (2) Boiler Units located at Eastern Hill Fire Station, 456 Albert Street East Melbourne. The opportunity also extends to replacing individual CRAC Units, cooling units.

There are currently two (2) Chiller Units at Eastern Hill Fire Station, but one unit has been shut down due to severe corrosion to the aluminium fins. The other Chiller unit that is in working order has undergone recent works to increase their effective life and efficiency.

The two boilers located at Eastern Hill are nearing their end of life cycle and it is proposed that these units will also be replaced.

The CRAC cooling units located on the roof of Eastern Hill Fire Station have severe corrosion to the condenser coils and these are to be replaced as part of this RFT.
