Concrete Roundabout & Roadworks, Sunrise Blvd & Ewingsdale Rd, Byron Bay

⁠⁠⁠Byron Shire Council has developed construction tender documentation for the construction of a steel fibre reinforced concrete roundabout at the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Ewingsdale Road in Byron Bay. The design drawings have been prepared by Lambert & Rehbein who have been engaged by Council.

Ewingsdale Road is the main access road to Byron Bay from the north. In peak hours, particularly on weekends, public holidays and event days, Ewingsdale Road as the primary northern artery into Byron Bay, banks up with traffic all the way from the Byron Bay Township to the M1 Motorway. Access from side streets and private accesses is restricted by the traffic on Ewingsdale Road reducing the functionality and safety along the corridor.

The Sunrise Boulevard and Ewingsdale Road intersection upgrade is part of an overall upgrade project for Ewingsdale Road which seeks to address the above issues by providing additional vehicular capacity along the Ewingsdale Road corridor and by facilitating improved access to and from the surrounding road network.

This tender is for the construction of a Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete (SFRC) Roundabout pavement and associated civil works as detailed in the RFT documentation.

Works included in this tender:
* SFRC roundabout pavement, lean mix base, gravel base and jointing
* Survey and set out of the works
* All traffic management for construction of the SFRC roundabout pavement and associated civil works
* Demolition and removal of existing AC sealed pavement within the area of works
* Compaction tests and specification compliance
* Refuge island on Ewingdale Road, kerb side median and traffic islands
* Roundabout central kerb and apron
* Kerb and gutter with the concrete roundabout pavement footprint
* Temporary line marking and signage
* Final line marking and signage within the roundabout footprint
* Site earthworks
* Drainage works
* Services trenching
* Relocation of services
* Concrete footpath

Tenderer's are required to provide all necessary labour, plant materials, project management, site supervision and traffic control, to ensure the scope of work is carried out satisfactorily in accordance with the relevant codes, standards specifications and information provided.
