Expressions of Interest - Port of Townsville Berth 4 Operations and Container & Cargo Terminal Lease

⁠⁠⁠Port of Townsville Limited is responsible for managing the Port of Townsville, located 1,380 kilometres north of Brisbane in North Queensland.

Townsville Port is Northern Australia’s primary container, general cargo and automotive port. The Port handles around 10 million tonnes of product worth over $10 billion each year, and services 70% of the population in Northern Australia. It is the largest container port in Northern Australia and second largest container port in Queensland.

Significant future growth in trade is forecast, and to cater for the increases in containerised and general cargo, Port of Townsville Limited is currently undertaking a $40.7 million redevelopment of Berth 4. Construction work is planned for completion in December 2017, when the berth and terminal areas will be ready to handover to an operator for installation of state of the art container handling equipment and terminal operation. It is anticipated that expanded cargo handling operations at Berth 4 would commence by February 2018.

Port of Townsville’s Berth 4 offers a rare opportunity to be part of a market that holds potential for growth across containerised trade and a diverse range of new and existing commodities. The strategic location of the Port of Townsville, especially its close proximity to Asian markets, provides importers and exporters with fast global market access.

Port of Townsville Limited is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced parties to invest into crane and cargo handling infrastructure and to operate Berth 4, with the option to lease and develop associated container and cargo terminal areas.

Expressions of Interest are to be lodged via the Queensland Government QTender website no later than 3:00pm AEST on Wednesday, 21 December 2016.
