The Huon Valley Council is seeking Expressions of Interest for a person or organisation to coordinate the Australia Day Market at Breakfast by the River on 26 January 2017 at Franklin.

Australia Day “Breakfast by the River” In 2015 the Huon Valley Council held the first Australia Day “Breakfast by the River” in Huonville along the river foreshore. Due to the success of this event and a larger than

expected crowd in 2015, the Australia Day celebration was moved to Franklin Oval and foreshore. This proved to be very successful and attracted a crowd of over 2000 people to the event.

The Franklin site has proved very suitable for running this event and we continue to develop and expand the Australia Day “Breakfast by the River”.

Council’s Breakfast by the River incorporates a free breakfast, formal Australia Day awards and citizenship ceremony, family activities, entertainment, face painting, jumping castle and water activities.

About the Australia Day Market Our 2016 event included a market and proved to be successful, with 28 stallholders attending.

For the 2017 event, stallholders meeting the following criteria will be accepted:
* hand-grown produce; or
* home-made food; or
* hand-made crafts; or
* use of Huon Valley produce within products.

Whilst produce/products do not need to originate from the Huon region, stalls from the area and/or using local produce will be looked more favourably upon (if more applications than space available).
