Tender Description

The Wynyard Sewerage System serves a population of approximately 4,812 residential customers and treats approximately 3.8 ML/day of wastewater. The sewerage assets consist of a treatment plant, 22 pump stations, 7.6 kilometres of rising mains and 24 kilometres of pipelines.

Trade waste from dairy processor Fonterra makes up approximately 60% of the inflows to the STP and 80% of the organic load. Fonterra have a dedicated pumping station that transfers their waste from their site to then gravity through the Wynyard sewerage reticulation. The long detention times, and strength of their waste is contributing to odour and corrosion issues.

By constructing a dedicated rising main from this pumping station to the Wynyard STP, TasWater can better control the treatment, and remove a large hydraulic load from the reticulation.

The aim of this consultancy is to complete a design for a new sewer rising main from the Fonterra cheese factory to the Wynyard Sewage Treatment Plant and the design of required upgrades to the Fonterra, Wynyard Main and Nurses Retreat Sewer Pumping Stations.

This consultancy will firstly develop a preliminary design with cost estimates to contribute to the TasWater business case, and pending approval the detailed design and documentation to allow construction.
