This Request for Information (RFI) seeks to help LGIS understand potential market offerings that can address emerging needs for Smart Street Lighting (SSL) for councils and Government Owned Corporations (GOCs) across Queensland.
LGIS plays a critical role in driving innovation across local government sector having developed expertise in various areas of smart infrastructure. Areas of focus have included smart lighting solutions, smart water solutions, and the implementations of drones in council business.
LGIS stands well placed to utilise council relationships to drive solutions forward and turn smart infrastructure opportunities into on the ground projects with significant scale and reach. LGIS's vision for SSL solutions is one that provides smart cities and precincts with the ability to remotely monitor, control and measure the performance of fixtures wirelessly, while maximising energy and operational cost savings.
The RFI seeks to achieve the following objectives:
* Gather and understand insights into the SSL market, including organisations with an Australian (and where applicable Queensland) presence, knowledge and experience and the capability of their products
* Understand the trends, themes, and market challenges
* Understand broader opportunities and applications created through an SSL solution; including but not limited to the use of an SSL solution to facilitate such additional propositions as:
* Smart Poles
* Paid and Community advertising
* Wi-Fi
* Data Capture/management/analytics
* Connecting to other devices/fixtures
* Explore clients serviced by each of the respondents and case studies/success stories by the respondent
* Determine design options, and the breadth and depth of available solutions, available from the market
* Understand available pricing models and options available to Councils
* Test respondent capacity to deliver available solutions
* Explore business models which the market may work with Councils to achieve
This RFI process and the responses put forward by respondents should not be interpreted as any kind of initial shortlisting for the purposes of a limited procurement exercise.
However, the work being conducted by LGIS within the context of this RFI may lead to market partnerships to deliver solutions to councils across Queensland.
