Tender Description
The vessel/s to be procured must have the versatility that is required for a range of DPI Fisheries compliance programs occurring in the NSW coastal and offshore environments. These include:
* Patrols across all DPI Fisheries programs (commercial, recreational and marine parks)
* Seizure of fishing gear (fish traps, lobster traps, trawl nets etc)
* Monitoring the contractors for the metropolitan area Bather Protection Program
* Fish aggregating device deployment/retrieval
* Bathymetric mapping
* Great white shark tagging/monitoring
* Threatened species identification/monitoring
* Occupational SCUBA diving
* Other general collection/maintenance of fisheries scientific equipment
In addition to a known set of parameters in the design of the vessel, there are certain design elements that need to be planned specifically as this vessel will be used to cross coastal bars along the NSW coast. Coastal bars are very hazardous and change drastically with tides and weather conditions making the selection of the right type of vessel imperative for a variety of conditions.
Other specific design elements include a purpose built davit arm and winch used to deploy and retrieve equipment, which affects the stability of the vessel and needs to be compensated for in order to meet survey specifications.
The vessel will be provided with the following general specifications:
* Hull Length: 18m - 20m
* Beam: up to 6.2m (amidships)
* Engines: 2 x turbo charged Diesel engines to meet performance specs of 27/20 knots
Designs including Southerly, Mark Ellis and West Coaster and other compliant alternatives are encouraged.
