Green Waste Decontamination & Grinding Services

⁠⁠⁠The City of Greater Geelong invites tenders closing 2.00 pm on Wednesday 29 June 2016 from suitably qualified contractors to process kerbside green waste collected from residential properties and processed by Council at its Moolap Transfer site. The services required to be undertaken by the contractor include the decontamination of the green waste and the subsequent grinding of the greenwaste.

Effective decontamination of the green waste is critical to ensure the greenwaste is suitable for its end use as compost. This also ensures the removal of all material or objects which could cause damage the grinder are removed before the green waste is stockpiled for grinding. Decontamination and grinding processes shall be undertaken by the same Contractor. The Contract Term shall be for 6 months with the option for an additional 2 x 6 monthly contract extensions at the sole discretion of Council. During this period the Principle may terminate the contract on 30 days notice in writing.

Please note there is Mandatory evaluation requirements associated with this tender
1. Grinding shall be carried out by way of either a high speed grinder of a minimum capacity of 700 HP or slow speed grinder of a minimum capacity of 480 HP. Both these grinders are required to have a minimum output of 50 tonnes per hour.
2. Standby Grinder Requirement - Given the urgency with which green waste must be processed Council requires that a second grinder of the capacity detailed above is available on standby at all times. The standby grinder must be able to be engaged on site within 4 hours of breakdown/maintenance of primary grinder.
