Hume City Council has historically carried out maintenance of unsealed roads, unsealed road shoulders and unsealed car parks using its own plant and equipment operated by Council staff. More recently Council has engaged a grader with operator under a contract to work with Council staff to deliver this service.
As the municipality develops, roads, car parks and road shoulders are being progressively sealed and the unsealed road maintenance program is slowly reducing in size. Council, as part of the Road Management Plan (RMP), is now seeking to engage a skilled contractor to provide unsealed road maintenance services.
The unsealed road maintenance program is designed to achieve goals set by the Hume Road Management Plan (RMP). The level of service to be maintained is set out in a Service Level Agreement (SLA) for roads. Generally, the SLA requires that unsealed roads be graded periodically to keep them in good condition.
The Contractor is to provide the following plant with operators for unsealed road maintenance activities:
* Grader (Must be less than 10 years old , in good condition and to the satisfaction of the supervisor)
* Combo or multi wheel roller with a minimum weight of 16 Tonnes to achieve the required compaction standard for unsealed roads and shoulders.
* Water cart - 14,000 litre water truck
Tender submissions are to be inclusive of all fuels, oil, maintenance, works traffic management etc and meet all current health and safety standard for operation of plant and machinery.
