Cleaning of Gross Pollutant & Oil Separation Traps West Side of the Kwinana Freeway

⁠⁠⁠The works shall consist of the cleaning (maintenance) of gross pollutant traps (GPT's) and associated drainage structures (the drainage units) located generally on the Foreshore Reserve adjacent to the Kwinana Freeway.

The drainage units comprise three separate but interconnected chambers. The drainage units collect the stormwater from two or more stormwater drains in a weir chamber before diverting most of the flow through a gross pollutant trap and then to an oil separation chamber before returning to the weir. The expectation is that the weir and the GPT would account for the bulk of the cleaning activity. All chambers will be inspected by the City prior to cleaning and the extent of the work assessed. The City has undertaken the cleaning previously and the extent of cleaning is included in Attachment B. For the purpose of determining the schedule of rates the quantities listed will be the reference for each unit. The eduction volume for each drainage unit will be recorded and the actual charge will be pro- rata the reference volume.

The drainage units to be maintained are listed at Attachment A and comprise:
* Pipes upstream of the units;
* Weir (Downstream Defender only);
* Gross pollutant trap (either CDS, Rocla Cleansall or Rocla Downstream Defender);
* Spill containment tank; and
* Outlet pipe(s).

The maintenance works to be undertaken will be the cleaning by water jetting, vacuum eduction and such other methods as necessary to remove sediment and liquid from all the units as required by the intervention parameters defined below.

The maintenance of the units will be undertaken in accordance with the manufacturers requirements at Attachment C . The intervention level for cleaning has been set at 85% of the manufacturers recommended intervention level. i.e. if the sediment is greater than 85% of the manufacturers intervention level then the unit will be cleaned. The City will advise the Contractor the units that need to be cleaned to meet this requirement.

It is envisaged that heavy-duty educting equipment will be necessary to achieve the standard of cleaning and rubbish removal expected under this contract.

The Tender must be lodged by the Deadline. The Deadline for this Request is 2.00pm (AWST) Tuesday 22nd December, 2015.
