000006 - The Adelaide Festival Centre was Australia’s first multi-purpose arts centre, built between 1970 - 1973 and is one of Australia’s most active theatrical producers, presenting a wide range of arts activities and performances for the local community as well as interstate and international visitors.The Adelaide Festival Centre Trust (AFCT) is responsible for the technical management of the Theatres within the Adelaide Festival Centre.

As part of the larger Adelaide Festival Centre Precinct Project, $11.122 million has been granted to Arts SA for the procurement of technical equipment at The Adelaide Festival Theatre (Festival Theatre), the Dunstan Playhouse (the Playhouse) and the Space Theatre (the Space).

Over the last 10 years the audio industry has undergone a paradigm shift - transitioning from analogue, linearly connected systems to digital, IP networked systems. A leader in this field is DANTE - a multi-channel digital audio networking protocol. DANTE efficiently merges numerous heavy & expensive analog multicore cables into a “one cable does it all” IP network. This Australian invented network solution has already become an International industry standard, won numerous international awards, and has been selected as the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Sound Department digital protocol of choice.

The selection of Yamaha CL series digital consoles, with their onboard DANTE networking functionality, meets our requirements for updating the Sound Console Packages within the Dunstan Playhouse. Having these consoles as audio control surfaces in conjunction with a DANTE network would allow ease, flexibility and a level of connectivity unseen before. The CL series console also offers efficient and intuitive ways of operating live sound with built-in redundancy, integration for FOH and Monitor Control – ie: rack sharing and gain compensation - with an increased onboard Effects and Graphic Equalizer libraries, negating the need for expensive and cumbersome outboard equipment. Economical and versatile in their field, these consoles will satisfy the needs of our local engineers, and International clients’ requirements as the preferred option for Touring Engineers.
