MR108 - Duplication of Tourle Street and Cormorant Road

⁠⁠⁠Tenders are invited from contractors pre-qualified under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts at Roadworks Category R3 or higher, Bridgeworks B3 or higher and Financial Level F50 or higher, for the MR108 – Duplication of Tourle Street and Cormorant Road.

The Contract is for the construction of roadworks, bridgeworks and associated activities for the duplication of Tourle Street and Cormorant Road. It involves duplicating the road between Industrial Drive, Mayfield West and Egret Street, Kooragang and construction of a new two lane bridge over the Hunter River (South Arm).

Roads and Maritime Services will undertake early works including Telstra and Ausgrid relocations, construction of preload embankments at the southern bridge abutment and the long pond north of the river prior to the works under this Contract.

The Contract includes the construction of a 336m long bridge on the western side of the existing bridge, duplicating 3.8 kilometres of the road between Industrial Drive, Mayfield West and Egret Street, Kooragang, earthworks, drainage, ground improvement works, pavement, utility adjustments and miscellaneous works including kerbs and/or gutters, safety barriers, street lighting, pavement markings and landscaping.

Traffic Management will be a major feature of the construction which will need to be carried out in multiple stages to minimise the impacts on traffic and the community.

The head contractor must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Principal their financial capacity to undertake the works at the tendered price.

The contractor and / or subcontractor must meet the following prequalification, registration and accreditation requirements for works:

* The head contractor must be prequalified for roadworks at Category R3 or higher and bridgeworks at Category B3 or higher and at financial level F50 or higher under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts and be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Principal the capacity to undertake the Works for the tendered price.
* The bridgeworks component of the Works must be carried out by contractors prequalified for bridgeworks at Category B3 or higher under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts.
* The earthworks and drainage components of the Works must be carried out by contractors registered with the Principal in Categories E and D respectively, or prequalified for roadworks at Category R3 or higher under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts.
* The asphalt paving component of the Works must be carried out by contractors prequalified for asphalt paving at Category A2 or higher under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts.
* The formwork component of the Works must be carried out by contractors registered with the Principal in Categories F, or prequalified for bridgeworks at Category B3 or higher under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts.
* The manufacture and delivery of precast concrete elements (bridge girders) must be carried out by contractors prequalified at Category C2 under the National Prequalification System for Civil (Road and Bridge) Construction Contracts.
* The provision of traffic control under the contract must be carried out by contractors registered with the Principal in Category G.
* Primary testing under the contract must be carried out by contractors registered with the Principal in Category L2.
* Erosion, sediment and soil conservation works under the contract must be carried out by contractors registered with the Principal in Category S.

It is a requirement for this project that the successful contractor be accredited under the Australian Government Building and Construction WHS Accreditation Scheme at the time of entering into the contract for the contract work and while the contract work is being carried out.
