In 2009, the Department of Education and Training (DET) commenced implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety management System (OHSMS). The system is based on the key elements of the Australian Standard, AS4801 - Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

DET's current auditing contract is scheduled to run from May 2011 to March 2016 during which 1145 DET schools and workplaces will have had an OHSMS audit based on AS4801. We require a continuation of this auditing program in our schools and workplaces commencing in April 2016 for a 4 year period.
