Holroyd City Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from an appropriately qualified person to be part of Council's Audit and Governance Committee.

Audit Committee Background. Council is seeking to appoint an independent member to its Audit and Governance Committee. The Committee is an independent advisory body of Council consisting of six members being three Councillors and three independent members (one of whom is the Chairperson). The Committee meets four times per annum and additional meetings if required.

The Committee acts on behalf of Council to oversee and monitor its effectiveness in carrying out its responsibilities for accountable financial management, good corporate governance, maintaining a system of internal control and risk management, and fostering an ethical environment.

Council would particularly welcome EOI from individuals who have previous or current experience in being a member of an Audit Committee and in chairing the Committee, with appropriate financial, legal or administrative experience and/ or qualifications in a large organisation.

Council's Audit and Governance Committee Charter specifies the terms for appointment of the independent members to the Committee.
