Review of Community Road Safety Strategy

⁠⁠⁠Council has sourced TAC Community Roads Safety Grant funding for the specific purpose of reviewing and updating the Ararat Rural City Councils current Community Road Safety Strategy.

Council's existing strategy was reviewed and updated in 2011/2012, formally adopted by Council in May 2012 and expires in June 2015. The strategy provided numerous recommendations to address community road safety matters primarily through the development of five key focus areas:

1. Safety Around Schools
2. Rural Road Safety;
3. Young Drivers
4. Ararat CBD; and
5. Motorcyclists.

The development of a new Community Road Safety Strategy must be in accordance with TAC requirements with particular emphasis on alignment with the arrive alive 2008-2017 Victorian road safety strategy and the Safe System approach to road safety.
