⁠⁠⁠Port Stephens Council requires internal audit services generally for, but not limited to, the following key activities:

* Examination and evaluation of the adequacy and effectiveness of systems of internal control, risk management and governance across Council's operations;
* Ascertaining operational conformity with the goals and objectives of Council;
* Assessment of the economic and efficient use of Council resources;
* Examination of operational compliance with policies, procedures, plans and legislation;
* Assessment of the reliability and integrity of information
