Public Transport Victoria (PTV), on behalf of the Victorian Government, is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced ticketing system operators within Australia and internationally, to operate the myki system when the current services contract expires in 2016.

myki is one of the largest smartcard ticketing systems in the world, operating across multiple modes of transport in metropolitan and regional areas.

The system is made up of more than 25,000 devices installed on train stations, trams and buses and processes more than 1 million transactions per day.

PTV is seeking an experienced operator to run the existing system and deliver maximum value for money for Victorian taxpayers.

The procurement process is not about introducing a new ticketing system – it is to contract a provider to operate the existing system for 6 years.

The Government’s primary focus is the continuity of ticketing services, but the chosen vendor must have the capability to identify and deliver future technologies that support service improvements and revenue growth.
