Provision of Services for Landscaping Works Orphan School Creek, Avoca Rd Canley Heights

⁠⁠⁠The section of Orphan School Creek between Avoca Road and Cumberland Highway is degraded and the creek banks are widening at various sections due to heavy erosion and scouring. Currently, the creek banks not only look aesthetically unpleasing but also some infrastructures are in danger of being damaged/destroyed.

The civil works contract has already been awarded to a specialised contractor (main contractor) and the construction work will start from third week of January 2015. The successful landscape contractor must liaise with the main contractor at any convenient time to carry out the landscaping works.

The proposed works will provide a naturally functioning creek system, introducing water sensitive urban design to utilise and manage urban stormwater runoff, re-introduction of native vegetation, flora and fauna and improve water quality. The contract work shall be in accordance with the construction plans and relevant specification for 8 sites including, but not limited to:

* Carry out detailed excavation if necessary to prepare the area for landscaping works.
* Construction of viewing platform, supply and installation of seat.
* Install tube stock and hikos as per the details provided.
* Supply and install fertilizers, water crystals and watering for all plants.
* Plants for this project will be supplied by Community Nursery of Fairfield City Council. Contractor shall receive the delivery of plants at the Community Nursery and transport it to the site at their own cost. All reusable tube stock and hikos trays have to be returned to the Community Nursery of Fairfield City Council.
* Protect existing vegetation over the period of the contract.
* Weed and rubbish removal and weed control in the project sites.
* Restoration of all disturbed areas including removal of any irrigation system provided.
* Prepare and submit for approval a Sediment Control plan and install sediment control measures as proposed, maintain during construction and remove on completion of the works.
* Locate all services on site prior to the commencement of any work on site. A copy of the services diagram including the location and levels must be submitted to the supervising Engineer.

A briefing session will be held on: Wednesday 28th January 2015 at 10:00 pm on site @ Orphan School Creek, Avoca Rd, Canley Heights.
