The Victorian Government’s Economic Statement (Securing Victoria’s Economy, December 2012, has securing Victoria’s position as the nation’s most globally focussed economy and most Asia-capable workforce, as one of its four themes.  School leaders are one of the main drivers of Asia-capable schools which are the building blocks of a future Asia-capable workforce and of future generations of Asia-literate citizens.

To support school leaders, policy makers who design the Government policy settings are instrumental and need equally to be equipped with the capabilities to operationalise the Asia-ready workforce agenda.

It is envisaged that the course will provide opportunities to build knowledge of contemporary business practice and networks in major companies with operations in Asia, as well as high performing schools in Asia. The course will comprise specific on shore and off shore components to refresh the currency of participants’ knowledge of contemporary business practice in Australia, and the workforce development needs of engaging with Asia.  The course will facilitate the building of networks and the deepening of relationships, thereby delivering sustainable benefits to school communities and participating companies.
