Bendigo Health is seeking to implement an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System as part of the new Bendigo Hospital Project. The EMR Project will require convergence and integration with these and other technologies on the clinicians’ fixed and portable devices.

The EMR Project consists of the solution design, implementation, configuration, and support of a system that delivers shared capabilities across clinical settings, clinical support and other settings in support of the patient journey and enables the new model of care.

Bendigo Health considers an EMR System to be an integrated clinical system that contains patient-centric information to support clinical care across the Enterprise.  Functions supporting the patient journey include access to patient historical information, real time decision support and alerts, clinical documentation, enterprise scheduling, workflows and Closed Loop Medication Management (CLMM).

The EMR System should include clinical and specialist modules and provide patient, resource and business management support for activities and processes involved in the delivery of patient care. This will enable Bendigo Health to capture the evidence to support improved quality and safety, based on best available evidence at the point of care.

The EMR System is one of the four modern technologies, including Unified Communications, Real Time Location System (RTLS) and enterprise wide wireless networking that will contribute to Bendigo Health achieving the goal of becoming a world-class regional health service.
