Tender Description

Overview

The City of Melville is seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to provide Marmion Reserve Sports Floodlight renewal services at 440 Marmion St, Myaree WA 6154.

About

Marmion Reserve is a key community sporting and recreational space within the City of Melville. The reserve includes open playing fields, a small water body, a playground with picnic facilities, two floodlit hard courts primarily used for netball, and a centrally located clubhouse with spectator areas. Ample car parking and connecting footpaths support both organised sport and casual community use.

Purpose

The purpose of the Marmion Reserve Floodlighting Project is to provide upgraded lighting infrastructure that meets current Australian Standards for evening training and competition. The project aims to support the growth of community sport, increase safe and equitable access to the reserve for all user groups, and reduce scheduling pressure on other City sporting facilities. The project is also a response to demonstrated community demand, highlighted by the Melville Junior Football Club securing State funding for the upgrades. The upgraded lighting will ensure that all allocated user groups can maximise participation opportunities and maintain the quality of the playing surface.

Scope

The project works will include (but not limited to):

  • Decommissioning of the existing lights and poles
  • All electrical works (including cabling, trenching etc.) according to Appendix 2
  • All civil works associated with the light pole installation, including structural foundations as per Appendix 2
  • Evaluation of both pad and pile footings to propose the most cost-effective solution aligned with the structural report
  • Establishment of new sports light poles as per Appendix 2
  • Reinstatement of turf and the associated reticulation system wherever impacted
  • Liaison with the City, the clubs, the public, and the approval authorities as required, to ensure smooth operation
  • Provision of all necessary documentation and certification after work completion

Contractor Requirements

  • Suitably qualified and experienced in floodlighting renewal, electrical, and civil works of this nature

Contract Terms and Conditions

  • Expected tender award in late November 2026
  • Expected construction timeframe from January 2027 until May 2027
