Overview
Transport for NSW is conducting a select tender for drainage, pavement, median and signage works at the Parker Street and Stafford Street intersection, Penrith.
Objectives
- Improve road safety at the Parker Street and Stafford Street intersection by reducing the risk of serious crashes and conflict points
- Restrict right-turn and through movements at Stafford Street through median reconstruction, creating a left-in/left-out intersection arrangement
- Reduce the likelihood of vehicles crossing multiple high-speed traffic lanes on Parker Street
- Improve traffic efficiency by extending right-turn lanes into Jamison Road and Derby Street using the existing Stafford Street right-turn bays
- Enhance driver awareness and compliance through the installation of new regulatory and directional signage
- Upgrade drainage, pavement, median infrastructure and associated roadworks to meet current Transport for NSW standards
- Deliver a safer and more reliable transport network for motorists while minimising future crash occurrences at this location
Scope
The scope includes:
- Drainage works at the Parker Street and Stafford Street intersection
- Pavement works at the Parker Street and Stafford Street intersection
- Median construction works, including reconstruction to create a left-in/left-out intersection arrangement at Stafford Street
- Extension of right-turn lanes into Jamison Road and Derby Street using the existing Stafford Street right-turn bays
- Installation of new regulatory and directional signage
