Overview
Hunter Water Corporation is seeking to refresh its Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platform, which is approaching a critical support deadline, with hardware and software support ending across 2026 and 2027. As the platform supports secure access to corporate applications, SCADA systems and remote operational sites, replacement is required to maintain service continuity, security and operational resilience.
Purpose
Hardware support for the current VDI platform expires on 31 August 2026 and software support expires on 30 June 2027. Extended hardware support after that date is break-fix only, with no software upgrades or security patching. Without replacement by June 2027, the VDI platform will be unsupported and without an upgrade path, increasing cyber security, service continuity and operational risks.
Scope
The scope includes:
- Replacement of the current VDI platform, which provides secure remote access to corporate applications and SCADA, reducing physical site visits
- Migration of selected ageing modelling machines to the new platform
Contractor Requirements
- Nutanix AHV is preferred for resilience, vendor certification and operational certainty
