Overview
The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (WA) is seeking design and deployment planning services for artificial reefs as part of the Westport Program.
About
The Westport Program is a long-term infrastructure initiative designed to support Western Australia's freight future while enhancing environmental and community outcomes.
Purpose
Artificial reefs form a key component of the program's environmental and social resilience building strategy, providing habitat complexity, supporting biodiversity, and creating recreational opportunities.
Scope
The scope includes:
- Design and deployment planning of artificial reefs located within Cockburn Sound and Owen Anchorage
- Complementing existing habitat restoration efforts in these areas
- Improving ecological function within the installation areas
- Providing new recreational assets for local communities
