Overview
Wellington City Council is running a Procurement in a Day (PIAD) process, involving presentations from suitably qualified suppliers, to establish a Supplier Panel for ecological weed management services in its parks and reserves.
For both the short and longer term, the Council seeks to establish and build strong relationships with committed suppliers that have the experience and capabilities to consistently deliver solutions on time, provide value for money and quality, and provide reliable productivity.
Purpose
The control of pest plant species and the Council's requirements for weed control is governed by Wellington City Council's Our Natural Capital, Wellington's Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan, and subsequent documents.
Weed control is carried out to protect, enhance and restore existing ecosystems and habitats. Weeds targeted for control are based on ecological threat, control feasibility and community need.
Scope
The scope includes:
- Delivery of ecological weed control services in Wellington City's parks and reserves
- Targeting of weeds based on ecological threat, control feasibility and community need
Contractor Requirements
- Established supplier with an excellent track record in New Zealand, predominantly within the Wellington region, delivering weed control services
- Understanding of whole of life value and a successful reputation for achieving value-based solutions for clients
- Well-established processes, systems and methods
- Well-qualified key personnel and resources able to provide ongoing support and management, including health and safety
Instructions to Tenderers
- Suppliers must advise their intent to respond by 12pm on 21/08/2026, via email to WCCProcurementTender@wcc.govt.nz, so presentation times can be scheduled
- Presentations are currently scheduled for 8 to 10 September
- Suppliers must submit a copy of their presentation slide pack, as well as the responses requested in the PIAD document, by the closing of this tender (2/09/2026)
- Presentation slide packs and PIAD document responses must be submitted via GETS; submissions via other channels will not be accepted
- WCC reserves the right to not offer a presentation to a supplier, or to withdraw an offer, should the supplier not meet compliance requirements (including pre-conditions, two-envelope format, signatures, and requested attachments) or provide a submission that is manifestly not relevant
