Request for Tender – Scoping a Producer Credentials Register for the Red Meat Industry

Meat & Livestock Australia Limited (MLA) is seeking proposals to undertake a structured requirements-gathering and due diligence process to assess the feasibility, scope and design of a producer-consented credentials register for the Australian red meat industry.

About

Australia's red meat industry is increasingly required to demonstrate verified environmental and sustainability credentials to customers and other supply chain participants. Credentials are currently generated and held across multiple systems, making it difficult for producers to efficiently share their credentials with the market, and for customers to identify producers who hold credentials that align with their requirements.

Purpose

The project will identify user needs, integration requirements and governance considerations, assess existing credential systems that could be leveraged, and determine how verified credentials can be efficiently exchanged, discovered and shared across the supply chain. Outcomes will inform recommendations for a future centralised myCredentials Register.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Undertaking a structured requirements-gathering and due diligence process to assess the feasibility, scope and design of a producer-consented credentials register for the Australian red meat industry
• Identifying user needs, integration requirements and governance considerations for the register
• Assessing existing credential systems that could be leveraged for the register
• Determining how verified credentials can be efficiently exchanged, discovered and shared across the supply chain
• Developing recommendations to inform a future centralised myCredentials Register
