Hunter Street Water Supply Pipe Renewal

⁠⁠⁠Overview

The South Taranaki District Council (STDC) is seeking a contractor to renew sections of the water supply reticulation network along Hunter Street, Hawera, between Waihi Road (SH3) and South Road (SH45), to address aging asbestos cement (AC) pipelines and maintain required levels of service.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Decommissioning or abandonment of approximately 618 m of existing DN100 AC water mains
• Replacement of the decommissioned mains with new DN180 HDPE pipelines
• Installation of rider mains using DN63 HDPE pipe to service properties where required, as an alternative to individual service crossings
• Supply and installation of all necessary valves, fittings, fire hydrants (PN16 or higher), and service connections
• Integration of the new works into the existing network and recently installed valves and fittings to ensure continuity of supply, including maintaining service to critical customers such as the nearby hospital
• Installation of new pipelines using open trenching methods, adapted to suit site conditions, traffic management requirements, and existing underground services
• Flushing, pressure testing, disinfection, and commissioning of the new water mains prior to being placed into service
• Full reinstatement of all disturbed surfaces, including roads, berms, footpaths, and pavement markings
• Provision of as-built drawings, asset data, componentisation records, and supporting QA documentation in accordance with Council requirements to support asset management and future maintenance
