Overview
Ausgrid is seeking a Commercial Partner to operate and commercialise its Community Battery portfolio, comprising 30 x ~5MW batteries totalling ~150 MW located across the Sydney, Hunter, and Central Coast regions of New South Wales.
About
Ausgrid's proposed delivery model for the Community Batteries is Build-Own-Maintain (BOM). Under this arrangement, Ausgrid will be accountable for project development and financing, design, and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the batteries. Ausgrid is also accountable for assurance activities and will ensure that operations and maintenance (O&M) is conducted to safety, regulatory, and technical requirements.
Batteries are expected to be available from August 2027, with some batteries potentially available from January 2027.
Scope
The scope includes:
- Operating and commercialising Ausgrid's Community Battery portfolio, comprising 30 x ~5MW batteries totalling ~150 MW across the Sydney, Hunter, and Central Coast regions
- Operating and dispatching the batteries directly, or in partnership with an accredited party
- Optimising revenue streams across a wide range of use cases, including wholesale arbitrage and contingency Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS)
- Selecting from five battery configurations, each with a battery inverter rating of 4.98MW and storage durations of 2.6, 4, 5, 6, or 8 hours
