ILWCI+ Construction Contract Industry Briefing

⁠⁠⁠Overview

The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) is inviting interested construction contractors to attend an online industry briefing regarding the upcoming Request for Tender (RFT) for the Intermediate Level Waste Capacity Increase (ILWCI+) Project at ANSTO's Lucas Heights campus.

About

The ILWCI+ Project involves the construction of a new Intermediate Level Waste storage facility within ANSTO's highly regulated operational environment. The project includes significant reinforced concrete structures, specialist fabricated components, mechanical and electrical services, and the integration of process systems requiring high standards of quality assurance, traceability, inspection and testing.

Contractor Requirements

• Suitably qualified and experienced contractors with demonstrated capability in the delivery of complex industrial, infrastructure, process, energy, manufacturing, defence, or similarly regulated projects

Tender Briefing

The industry briefing will provide an overview of the ILWCI+ Project scope and objectives, the proposed procurement and delivery strategy, the anticipated contracting approach, and the proposed procurement timetable.

• Format: Virtual briefing (Microsoft Teams)
• Date: 31 July 2026
• Time: 2:00 pm

Registered attendees will receive connection details prior to the event. A question-and-answer session will be conducted during the briefing to provide participants with an opportunity to seek clarification on the information presented.

Instructions to Tenderers

Organisations wishing to attend the industry briefing are requested to register their interest by 4:00 pm AEST on 29 July 2026 via email to jenksm@ansto.gov.au, including the names and contact details of all proposed attendees.

Registrations should include:

• Organisation name
• Names of attendees
• Position titles
• Contact telephone numbers
• Email addresses for all attendees

Each organisation will be limited to five (5) participants. The Commonwealth may exclude individuals who have not been registered by the closing date.

Participation in the briefing is voluntary and is not a condition of participation in any subsequent approach to market. Organisations that do not attend the briefing will remain eligible to participate in any future RFT process.

The Commonwealth anticipates releasing a formal Request for Tender through an open approach to market in Early August 2026.
