Construction of Water Main and Associated Ancillaries in Glenvale

⁠⁠⁠Overview

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is seeking a contractor to construct watermain upgrades to improve drinking water supply in and around the Glenvale area.

About

The Glenvale Reservoir, located on Skyline Drive, provides water to Glenvale (west of Boundary Street), Westbrook, and Wyreema Reservoir. It is filled from the Kynoch Zone via a reticulation network.

Purpose

TRC has identified two main issues affecting this water supply:

• Insufficient pressure to fill the Glenvale Reservoir at the required flow rate
• High water velocities along Riethmuller Road and parts of Boundary Street, which cause pressure drops in other areas, especially near Hursley Road, reducing supply to Westbrook and Wyreema

TRC's 2023 Water Supply Planning Report: Greater Western Toowoomba Water Supply Study recommends several upgrades to address these issues. The scope of this contract includes two of these recommended improvements.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Augmentation GLW_21_6: construction of a new DN250 trunk main from Greenwattle Street to Riethmuller Road
• Augmentation and Cross Connection GLW_21_6: upgrading the pipe size and incorporating a cross connection at the Boundary Street and Riethmuller Road junction
