Tender Description
Overview
The Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development (QLD) is seeking a supplier to supply and deliver hydrated lime product to the Baal Gammon Mine Site in the Tablelands Region of North Queensland.
About
The Department's Technical Services branch manages sites across the broad Tablelands Region in Far North Queensland through the Abandoned Mine Lands Program (AMLP). The objective of the AMLP is to minimise public health, safety and environmental risks associated with abandoned mines.
Baal Gammon is a significant abandoned mine managed under the program and is affected by Acid Mine Drainage (AMD). Large volumes of acidic runoff are generated due to exposure with acid forming rock waste, which is then intercepted and contained onsite, leading to accumulation over time.
Purpose
Hydrated Lime is used by the department for neutralising acidic solutions, to achieve a higher pH where dissolved metals can precipitate out of solution, and to neutralise acidic water until it is suitable for release.
Scope
The scope includes:
- Supply of hydrated lime product in 500kg bulka bags
- Delivery by the truckload to the Baal Gammon Mine Site
Contract Terms and Conditions
- Proposed contract term of 2 years
- Extensions will be assessed progressively on an as-needs basis via letter of variation
Location
- Delivery Address: Baal Gammon mine site, via Herberton Petford Road, 8km west of Herberton
- Located within the broad Tablelands Region of North Queensland, approximately 3 hours southwest from Cairns
