Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Overview

Roper Gulf Regional Council is seeking a contractor to supply one (1) Car Crusher Baler designed to compact end-of-life vehicles, white goods, and scrap steel into dense, transportable bales.

Scope

The unit shall utilise a high-pressure hydraulic crushing chamber and may be supplied in either of the following configurations:

  • Trailer-mounted portable unit
  • Hook-lift skid-mounted unit

Structural Features

The crusher shall be robustly constructed to withstand continuous heavy-duty operation and shall include:

  • Heavy-duty reinforced steel frame
  • High-tensile strength crushing chamber
  • Wear-resistant floor and side wall construction
  • Corrosion-resistant coating system suitable for harsh environments
  • Replaceable wear plates in high-impact areas

Hydraulic System

The hydraulic system shall be designed for high efficiency and reliability under demanding conditions and shall include:

  • High-pressure hydraulic rams capable of vehicle compaction
  • Multi-stage compression cycle for optimal bale density
  • Integrated hydraulic oil cooling system for thermal management
  • Automatic pressure regulation system
  • Emergency pressure relief valves to ensure safe operation

Operational Features

The unit shall be designed for ease of use, safety, and efficiency, and shall include:

  • One-person operation capability
  • Fully automated crushing sequence
  • Remote control functionality for safe operation
  • Fast cycle times to maximise throughput
  • Integrated safety interlocks to prevent unsafe operation

Performance Requirements

The Car Crusher Baler shall meet the following minimum performance criteria:

  • Capable of crushing standard passenger vehicles in a single compression cycle
  • Suitable for continuous operation under heavy-duty conditions
  • Able to produce consistent, high-density bales
  • Designed for reliable operation in remote and/or harsh environments

Compliance Requirements

The equipment shall be designed, manufactured, and supplied in compliance with the following standards and regulations, with all safety systems, guarding, and operational controls meeting or exceeding these requirements:

  • Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations
  • AS/NZS 4024, Safety of Machinery Series
