Operating Theatre Consumables Panel

SA Health is establishing an Operating Theatre Consumables Panel to ensure the ongoing supply of operating theatre consumables required across all Local Health Networks (LHN) and the whole of SA Health. The current panel agreement is due to expire, and a new panel is required to replace it.

About

The Medical Consumables Sourcing team in the Procurement, Supply Chain and Materials Management (PSCM) division within the Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW) is responsible for sourcing and managing the panel agreements that contain medical consumables required across multiple LHNs within SA Health.

PSCM has developed contract tiers for operating theatre consumables that are part of the SA Health catalogue, allowing competing brands for the same product to be identified, and has developed product specifications, resulting in a list of products and product specifications for inclusion in this Invitation to Supply (ITS).

Scope

The Operating Theatre Consumables Panel consists of seven product categories:

• Energy Devices and Smoke Evacuation: monopolar/bipolar accessories, suction/coagulation, return electrodes, smoke evacuation
• Single-use Surgical Instruments and Consumables: single-use surgical instruments, laparoscopic trocars and cannulas, insufflation devices
• Skin Preparation, Hand Hygiene and Surgical Gloves: scrub brushes and sponges, surgical hand scrub, skin preparation, surgical gloves
• Haemostatic Agents and Sealants: mechanical haemostats, active haemostats, sealants, adhesives
• Drainage Consumables: wound drainage, chest drainage
• Non-Sterile Operating Theatre Consumables: surgical slippers, suction manifolds, absorbent floormats, positioning devices, surgical clean-up, OT printing accessories
• Sterilisation Consumables: instrument cleaning agents/detergents, sterilisation packaging consumables, biological indicator tests, batch tracking consumables, process indicators and tests, sterilisation containers

The Product Specification Checklist (Attachment Part D Product and Price Checklist) lists the products under the above categories currently used across SA Health that are in scope of the new Panel Agreement.

Secondary procurements will invite panel members to submit offers for categories.
