Overview
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking an experienced Contractor to provide management services for Edel Land National Park, an area that includes Steep Point and is located within the Shark Bay World Heritage Area.
About
DBCA manages biodiversity, environmental protection and visitor services for the area commonly referred to as Edel Land, which includes Steep Point and forms part of the Shark Bay World Heritage Area. A map of the area is provided in section 2.13 of Schedule 2.
Scope
The Contractor will be required to live on-site at the Ranger's Complex to deliver the following services. The scope includes:
- Provision of on-ground management of the visiting public
- Provision of information to visitors
- Maintenance and upgrade of associated service infrastructure, including camping areas, the residence, operations base and all outbuildings
- Undertaking other land management activities as required
The Contractor will report to the District Manager, Gascoyne, or a delegated officer, and will require contact with DBCA staff and community members including visitors, volunteers, neighbouring pastoralists, adjacent mining lease operators, Malgana people and other contractors.
Contractor Requirements
- Experience relevant to the on-site management and land management activities described in the scope
- A high degree of independence, flexibility, practical skills and resourcefulness, given the remote location of Edel Land
- Ability to work without supervision and assistance for extended periods
- Considerable personal discretion, and good public communication and negotiation skills, as a representative of DBCA
